Welcome - Root Canal

The root canal a hollow space in the center of the tooth which contains pulpy nerve tissue that provides the tooth with the ability to feel hot and cold.  When the root pulp becomes damaged from cavity decay or fractures, pain occurs because of an increase in blood flow and cellular activity of the tooth. Bacteria will enter and multiply in the tooth, causing the pulp to die.  The tooth must be treated or infection can spread, causing a chance for an abscess.

Root canal therapy is an very effective way to save damaged teeth.  Root canal therapy removes the nerves, and then a crown is placed over the tooth to strengthen it.  The procedure is done under anesthesia. A lot of pain and future problems can be eliminated by undergoing root canal therapy.
